The
Iron County Cultural History and Art Lesson program is an arts-integrated
kindegarten through eighth grade curriculum that serves schools
in the Iron County area. The curriculum includes 5 days of history
and arts related activities that invoke the creative process,
both in the classroom and on the grounds of the Iron County
Museum. The cultural history of Iron County settlers as preserved
in music, dance, books, clothing, buildings, and other artifacts
and memorabilia, enabled West Iron County teachers and Museum
staff to write and implement the curriculum in May, 2004. The
project was funded by the Michigan Council for Arts and Cultural
Affairs, the Sherwood Educational Fund, the West Iron County
Public Schools, and the Iron County Museum.
