The curriculum includes 5 days of history and arts related activities that invoke the creative process, both in the classroom and on the grounds of the Iron County Museum. The cultural history of Iron County settlers as preserved in music, dance, books, clothing, buildings, and other artifacts and memorabilia, enabled West Iron County teachers and Museum staff to write and implement the curriculum in May, 2004. The project was funded by the Michigan Council for Arts and Cultural Affairs, the Sherwood Educational Fund, the West Iron County Public Schools, and the Iron County Museum.

This project was developed and implemented by the West Iron County Public Schools in partnership with the Iron County Museum for the Big Culture Lesson Program of the Michigan Council for Arts and Cultural Affairs.
