The Cultural Center

The Cultural Center was added in 1986/87 as part of the observance of Michigan Sesquicentennial.  The admissions desk and the gift shop are near the main entrance.  As an introduction, 32 woodcuts by artist, Mary Kale illustrate different aspects of Iron County History.  The stage permits numerous types of programs: ethnic festivals, style shows, concerts, plays, lectures and many expanded exhibitions.  The center itself can seat as many as 500 people and is used for large exhibitions such as quilt shows, art shows, hobby shows and conferences.  Three galleries are part of the building and are specifically for Pioneer exhibits, Art exhibits and Humanities honorees.

Programs and Ethnic Days

Iron County has recorded 39 different ethnic groups among the pioneers.  Several ethnic festivals have been held and each year some of the groups have continued.  Check our annual
Calendar of Events for dates.
